Love Is Love!
Acceptance, Equality, Liberation and so Much More!
My phone rings and I answer it “Just the Two of Us Wedding Services”. The person on the other end asks me many questions about our services and I am happy to answer them. Then they ask this, “I have one more question, We are a same sex couple, will you work with us?” And my response is always: YES! Why wouldn’t I? They respond with an answer that always breaks my heart. “because the last 3 people we called won’t help us. They said it’s against their beliefs”.
This is a conversation I sadly have at least 5 times a month. And It angers me. NO ONE should EVER have to feel that way. No one should ever be told “you’re not worthy of helping” or “You are wrong” or “you cannot marry who you love because I SAY it’s wrong”.
Let’s Be Clear
No one has a right to tell you who you CAN or CANNOT marry or love. NO ONE.
Just the Two of Us Wedding Services accepts and welcomes EVERYONE! Whether your Gay, Bi, Trans, Non Binary, Cisgender, Straight, Intersex, Asexual, Gender Fluid, Pansexual, QPOC…… it doesn’t matter….YOU ARE YOU! Perfectly Made.
We see YOU! We see a person who just wants to get married to the person they LOVE and that is how it SHOULD BE. Every. Single. Day. 365 days a year.
From the time I started my business in 2012 I knew I wanted to be the type of business ANYONE could come to. Regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation…I wanted to be accepting and always have my door open to anyone who needed my services.
And over the past 11 years there have been some amazing strides in the 2SLGBTQIA+ Movement. But there is still a LONG, LONG, LONG Way to go.
On June 26, 2015, the U.S Supreme Court struck down ALL state bans on same-sex marriage and made it LEGAL in all 50 States!
That week? We were SO BUSY and we were SO THRILLED to be able to help so MANY couples FINALLY GET MARRIED!
The month of June is recognized all over the world as PRIDE MONTH. It’s a month long observation to celebrate and recognize the 2SLGBTQIA+ community!
But Why June?
It’s in commemoration of the NYC police raid that happened on June 28, 1969 at the Stonewall Inn, which was a bar in NYC that was frequented by the queer community. In 1970, activists for the queer community organized a March in NYC in Central Park and used the term GAY PRIDE.
Brenda Howard is notably recognized for her part in making the first Pride March! Pride meaning: A becoming or dignified sense of what is due to oneself or one’s position or character. June was first recognized as GAY PRIDE month in 1999 by President Bill Clinton.
My goal, in regards to my business, is to have a SAFE PLACE For anyone to come to who wants to be able to marry the love of their life! Who wants to feel like they are accepted for WHO THEY ARE, WHAT THEY BELIEVE, WHOM THEY LOVE AND DO IT WITHOUT FEAR OF BEING JUDGED, REJECTED, BULLIED OR HARMED!
We Are All Humans!
We are ALL the same: HUMANS.
We are ALL the same: We want love.
We are ALL the same: We DESERVE love and respect
I am excited to be a part of Greenwood Pride in Greenwood, Indiana on June 3, 2023.
I will continue to ALWAYS advocate for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and always have a safe, loving, accepting place for everyone to go to.
Never let your light be dimmed.
